ROCKINGHAM — A Moore County man is accused of engaging in sex acts with a child last year.
According to an arrest warrant, 40-year-old Edgar Humberto Gonzales (listed in jail records as Gonzalez-Irizarry), of Whispering Pines, engaged in lewd acts with a 4-year-old child in March of 2024.
The arrest warrant was issued on May 3, 2024 and Gonzalez was arrested March 25 by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
Gonzales is charged with one felony count each of statutory sex offense with a child by an adult and taking indecent liberties with a child. He is being held without bond in the Richmond County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court April 10.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
