ROCKINGHAM — Due to the approaching winter storm, the NASCAR organizational test at Rockingham Speedway has been pushed back a week.

Organizers announced Friday afternoon that the two-day testing session — originally scheduled for Jan. 27-28 —will now be held Tuesday, Feb. 3 and Wednesday, Feb. 4.

Teams from both the Craftsman Truck and O’Reilly Auto Parts series will be testing at the Rock prior to the season start in Daytona to get a feel for the track for the upcoming races two months later April 3-4.

The testing event is free and open to the public, with general seating available in Section 30 and Section 22 reserved for ADA seating.

Fan parking will be available at Gate B off of U.S. 1. Food trucks are scheduled to be on site both days.

Last year’s test saw Ty Majeski having the fastest lap around the Rock at 166.567 mph in 21.983 seconds in the truck series, and Corey Day topping out at 162.431 mph for the highest speed in the then-Xfinity series.

When it came to race day, Jake Garcia had the top pole speed at 153.469 mph to start the Black’s Tire 200 and Connor Zilisch took the pole for the N.C. Education Lottery 250 at 149.536 mph.

This will be the second consecutive year of having NASCAR races back at Rockingham.

The race weekend kicks off Thursday, April 2 with ThunderFest returning to Harrington Square in downtown Rockingham from 4-9 p.m., featuring vendors and a performance by a yet-to-be-named musical act.

Racing will start Friday, April 3 with the Black’s Tire 200 in the Craftsman Truck Series, followed Saturday, April 4 with a 125-lap race in the ARCA Menards Series East and the N.C. Education Lottery 250 in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series.
