ROCKINGHAM — Even though there’s a threat of wintry weather over the weekend with cold temps to follow into the week, the NASCAR organizational test still has a green flag.
Organizers confirmed that, as of Wednesday, the test for drivers in NASCAR’s Craftsman Truck and O’Reilly Auto Parts series is still scheduled for Jan. 28-29.
The event is free and open to the public, with general seating available in Section 30 and Section 22 reserved for ADA seating.
Fan parking will be available at Gate B off of U.S. 1. Food trucks are scheduled to be on site both days.
Also, as of Wednesday, organizers said that NASCAR had not yet released a list of drivers who will be participating.
Last year’s test saw 26 drivers in the Craftsman Truck Series and three in the then-Xfinity Series break 160 mph — with Ty Majeski having the fastest lap around the Rock at 166.567 mph in 21.983 seconds in the truck series, and Corey Day topping out at 162.431 mph for the highest speed in the car test and 161.964 mph in his truck run.
Tickets for the races April 3-4 are currently available at racetherock.com and will be sold at the track during the testing.
