RALEIGH — The North Carolina Department of Labor and the NC Home Builders Association Education and Charitable Foundation are renewing their partnership to advance the Be Pro Be Proud initiative, inspire the next generation of skilled professionals, and help build a stronger workforce for North Carolina’s future.

As industries continue to evolve and businesses seek qualified workers, it is increasingly important to introduce young people to the opportunities available in the skilled trades and technical professions. These careers provide pathways to meaningful work, professional growth, and economic stability while helping meet the needs of job creators and communities across the state.

“North Carolina’s future depends on a strong, skilled workforce. We must show students the value and opportunity of careers in the skilled trades,” said Labor Commissioner Luke Farley. “Through Be Pro Be Proud, we’re connecting students, parents, educators, and industry leaders with these opportunities to strengthen our workforce and keep North Carolina moving forward.”

Through the renewed partnership, NCDOL and the foundation will continue promoting skilled trade opportunities, highlighting the value of technical education and hands-on training, and connecting students with pathways to rewarding careers. The initiative also helps students better understand the skills and training needed to succeed in these growing fields.

By bringing together educators, families, and employers, the partnership aims to help more young people explore careers in the skilled trades while building a workforce ready to meet North Carolina’s current and future needs.
