New trooper coming to Richmond County following graduation

HAMLET — The N.C. State Highway Patrol will soon be assigning a new trooper to Richmond County and a Richmond County resident is heading north.

Miles Mack, of Scotland County, will join Troop H2 following his upcoming graduation following 12 weeks of training, according to a press release.

 Isaias Joel Shaw-Gomez of Richmond County will be stationed in Moore County.

Mack and Shaw-Gomez will be two of 34 troopers to be sworn in May 3 during the graduation of the 147th Basic Patrol School at Colonial Baptist Church in Cary.

The ceremony will include remarks by Col. Glenn M. McNeil Jr. and the oaths of office will be administered by Associate Justice Mark Davis of the N.C. Supreme Court.

In February, 1st Sgt. Joel Williams was transferred from Rutherford County to Richmond County and 1st Sgt. R.G. Hogue Jr. left Richmond for Gaston. Sgt. Randy Lankford also transferred from Troop H5 in Mecklenburg County to Troop H2 in Scotland County.

Troop H, headquartered in Monroe, covers Cleveland, Gaston, Mecklenburg, Union, Anson, Richmond, Moore, Hoke and Scotland counties.
