“CLASSROOM CREDITS” WITH NOAH GIL Friday marked the end of the first nine-week period at Richmond, and for Gil, things are going smoothly to start his senior year. A dual enrollment student at Richmond and Richmond Community College, Gil is taking five classes across the two campuses this fall. Earning perfect 100% scores on his report card, Gil is in AP Literature and Composition and Weight Training Honors at the high school. The midterm report at RichmondCC came out this month and Gil has high marks in all three of his classes. He’s got an A in Biology 110 and Bs in English 112 and Math 271. Currently ranked in the top 15 of his graduating class, Gil has a 4.58 weighted grade point average. In the spring, Gil will take a few more RichmondCC classes and Annual Production Honors and Economics and Personal Finance Honors at Richmond. “ON THE PITCH” WITH NOAH GIL The Raiders played two matches last week, starting with a shutout loss at non-conference West Cabarrus High School. Richmond followed that with a victory over Scotland High School. In the Sandhills Athletic Conference match against the Fighting Scots, Gil scored what would prove to be the game-winning goal. Richmond scored a pair of goals in a 2-1 victory over Scotland, both of which came in the first half. Scoring first was junior Memphis Jacobs in the 11th minute. In the 35th minute, Scotland committed a foul inside the 18-yard box, one of several physical tackles in the match. Awarded a penalty kick, head coach Chris Larsen gave Gil the opportunity. Squaring up the goalkeeper, Gil sent his shot low and inside the left post to give the Raiders a 2-0 lead going into halftime. This season, Gil has recorded eight goals to lead Richmond. Six of those goals have come in regulation, while his two most recent goals were scored via the penalty kick. Richmond (5-13-2, 4-6-1 SAC) sits in fifth place in the SAC standings and will wrap up its regular season Tuesday. That match against Hoke County High School (9-9-2, 3-7-1 SAC) will be played at home beginning at 7 p.m. “RAPID RESPONSE” VIDEO WITH NOAH GIL The Richmond Observer will publish its Official Richmond County Female Student-Athlete of the Week Tuesday.
