NORMAN - On Saturday October 13th, the little town of Norman, N.C. held its ninth annual Norman Fest. The event started at twelve and lasted until 9:00 p.m.
Food vendors of all descriptions were set-up on the event grounds selling all types of delicious foods, including collard sandwiches.
Many craft vendors displayed their wares while a chainsaw artist proved that, even with a chainsaw, beautiful art could be carved out of wood.
Shiny antique tractors, lawn mowers, chainsaws, cars and trucks were all on display for folks to look at and bring back memories from the past or in some cases explained to the youth.
Many of the children at the event enjoyed face painting, snow cones, and displays from the N.C. Zoo while everyone enjoyed the many musical bands that played during the event.
For the first time that anybody could remember, a professional wrestling event was held right there in Norman; the folks really seemed to get into the action of the fights put on by the wrestlers.
Also offered during the event were helicopter rides. The chopper was taking off and landing every few minutes with rides high above the town of Norman.
Mayor Kenneth Broadway said, “I am well pleased with the turn-out of folks and for the beautiful day the Lord provided for this special event.”
He also wanted to thank the many sponsors that made this event a special day and a success for the little town of Norman.
