Alice Faye Steen Murchison, 82, of Rockingham, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2025 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Richmond.
She was born Oct. 16, 1942, in Richmond County, daughter of the late Willard and Nita Steen.
Alice was a faithful member of Abundant Life Church. She was known as Mama, Grandma, Great-Grandma, and Aunt Alice. A woman of remarkable strength and resilience, she faced all life’s challenges with grace and determination and always put the needs of her family first. She was the most dedicated mother and grandmother with the biggest heart and kindest soul, and was the most non-judgmental woman you would ever meet. Alice was always true to her husband and God.
There was nothing like Mama’s chicken and dumplings and she also had a love of sewing. Alice loved to hear preaching and listening to gospel music, and would always watch the worldwide news.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Steve Darrell Murchison Sr.; grandson, Kenneth Dwayne Murchison; brothers, Richard, Harold, Harl and Carl Steen; and sisters, Martha Estridge and Juanita Quick.
Alice is survived by her children, Angel Carpenter (Dave) of the home, Tina Murchison (Michael) of Rockingham, and Darrell Murchison and Mike Murchison (Cheryl), both of Hamlet; grandchildren, Sharon Guinn, Michael “Tony” Murchison II (Michelle), Brandi Taylor (John), Dana Guinn and Jamie Guinn (Chad); great-grandchildren, Hayley, Braxton, Matthew, Avianna, Alijah, Gracie, Phillip, Paisly, Emberly, Myah, Sydney, Filix, Jayden, Michael “Little Boy,” Emersyn and Greyson; brothers, Bobby Steen, Gary Steen, both of Hamlet, and Jefferson “Huly” Steen of Wallace, South Carolina; sister, Virginia Miller of Ocala, Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 16, 2025 from 6-8 p.m. at Abundant Life Church, Rockingham.
The funeral service will be Friday, Jan. 17, 2025 at 3 p.m. at Abundant Life Church with Pastor Joe Wilkes officiating. Burial will follow at Steen Family Cemetery, Wallace, South Carolina.
