Alice Stubbs Brock, 76, of Rockingham, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at Richmond County Hospice Haven, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born July 27, 1949, in Robeson County, daughter of the late John Norman Stubbs Sr. and Ruby Lee Ezzell Stubbs.
Alice dedicated more than 30 years of service to Pizza Inn, where she worked as an associate manager and formed many lasting friendships through the years. She was also a devoted volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and a faithful member of Joy Freewill Baptist Church.
Alice had a joyful spirit and never met a stranger. She loved gardening, dancing, doing word searches, and playing cards. Known for being a cut-up and a jokester, she always kept those around her laughing. She especially enjoyed anything involving Chuck Norris and could often be found watching her favorite television show, "Gunsmoke."
Above all else, Alice loved her family. Her greatest joy was spending time with them, especially her beloved grandson, Carter, who held a very special place in her heart.
Alice will be remembered for her laughter, kindness, strong work ethic, and the love she shared so freely with family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Along with her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Lyon Nathan Brock; son, Robert Harry Smith Jr.; brothers, John Norman Stubbs Jr., Clyde Stubbs, Frank Stubbs and Buddy Stubbs; and sisters, Peggy Ann McDuffie and Linda Appleby.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Bobbie Jo Orr (Jeffrey) of Elgin, South Carolina; granddaughters, Jessica Stogner (Travis Deese) and Hollie Boatwright (Josh); adored great-grandchildren, Carter Visingard, Ansley Visingard and Briar Boatwright; sisters, Mary Louise Bullard of Rockingham and Ruby Lee Shaw (Gene) of Chadbourn; also mourning her passing are Christopher Taylor and Ralph Iennaco, whom she loved and treated as her sons.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2026 from 6-8 p.m. at Harrington Funeral Home, Hamlet.
The funeral service will be Monday, June 1, 2026 at 11 a.m., with Pastor Lloyd O. Grant Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond County Memorial Park.
