Anne Cadieu Boyd, age 92, died peacefully at Millcroft Living in Newark, Delaware, on Oct. 18, 2024.
Born in Hamlet and raised in Rockingham, she went to Meredith College where she met the lover of her life, William Boyd, at a church mixer in Raleigh. They married in 1951 and were rarely apart from then on. After William completed his military obligation, they moved to Portsmouth, Virginia, where they raised their family of two children, remaining there for over 30 years.
She was active in Port Norfolk Baptist Church and worked part-time in retail after her children were in school. When William retired, they moved back to Hamlet to be near family, where they attended First Baptist Church of Hamlet.
William worked briefly for the City of Hamlet and Anne worked at the Journal Stationary Store in Rockingham. They built their dream home in Hamlet in which they lived for nearly 40 years, enjoying visits from their children and four grandchildren. She spent her last three years in Newark, Delaware, near her son Bill.
Predeceased by her parents, Sybil and Neal Cadieu, she is survived by her husband William, brother Neal (Joanne), son Bill (Diane), daughter Lou Ann (Mark), grandchildren Laura, Matthew, David and Steven, and two great-grandsons.
No services are planned at this time.
