Audrey Mae Driggers, 85, of Rockingham, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026 at home, surrounded by her family.
Audrey was born Aug. 7, 1940 in Richmond County to the late Myrtle Lucille Brown and Lonnie Morgan Brown.
She attended Hamlet High School and had a career in the retail furniture business and bookkeeping. In later years she was teacher at Jefferson Park Christian School.
Audrey loved the Lord and her family. She was a talented pianist and began playing at church at the age of 11 and continued doing so throughout her life. Audrey also enjoyed writing hymns and painting. She loved her church family at Faith Missionary Baptist where she sang in choir, did specials, and taught Sunday school.
Along with her parents, she was proceeded in death by her husband, Wilbert Bernie Driggers Sr,; son, Wilbert Bernie Driggers Jr.; sister, Ledia Beaver.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Jackie Elaine Young of Rockingham; brother, Aulton Bruce Brown (A.B.) and wife Barbara of Plant City Florida; sister-in-law, Bettie West of John's Creek Georgia; sister of the heart, Trena Curtis of Chesterfield, South Carolina; and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her beloved church family.
Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026 at Faith Missionary Baptist Church, Hatcher Road. Visitation is noon-1 p.m. The funeral begins at 1p.m., officiated by Pastor Travis Wilkerson, the Rev. David Lee and Dr. A.B. Brown, followed by the interment service at Richmond County Memorial Park in the mausoleum chapel.
