Barbara “Carole” Swails, 87, of Rockingham, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2026 at Richmond Co. Hospice Haven, Rockingham, surrounded by her loving family.
Carole was born on Dec. 17, 1938 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Paul and Grace Braswell.
She was a retired textile worker from Sara Lee Hosiery and a lifelong member of Heritage Baptist Church. She was avid Braves and Tar Heels fan.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, William Gregory Swails.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, May 11, 2026 at 2 p.m. at Watson-King Funeral Home Chapel in Rockingham with Pastor Craig Willingham and Pastor David Fore officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond Co. Memorial Park.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Keith (Mary) Swails of Rockingham and Chris (Lori) Swails of Hamlet; special daughter-in-law, Pat Swails; her grandchildren, Tony, Justin, Cody, Houston, Chelsie, Drew and Josh; and numerous great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 12:30-2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times at her son Chris’s home, 119 Minturn Ave. Hamlet.
The family would like to thank Richmond Co. Hospice and their staff for their excellent care of Carole.
