Barbara Spillars Goodman, 76, of Rockingham, passed away Oct. 16, 2024.

Barbara was born Jan. 14, 1948, to the late Annie Haynes and W. L. Spillars in Rutherford County.

If there was one thing to know about Barbara, it’s that no one could decorate for Christmas like her. Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and there were so many things that made her special. She was quite the host and always quick to make you feel welcome. She loved beach music, shagging, and of course, the beach. Some may not realize she played basketball in her early years and enjoyed water skiing. Barbara enjoyed cooking for her family and working with flowers. She was also an avid sports fan, in particular N.C. State Wolfpack sports.

Barbara loved her family and her church family dearly. Barbara was a faithful member of First Methodist Church in Rockingham for many years. She spent a lot of her time participating and volunteering for church events and activities. Barbara was a woman who loved and cherished her faith, and she is a woman who will be surely missed.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Vic Goodman Jr., of the home; children, Tina Goodman Bryant (Tyler) of Raleigh and Gina Goodman Burgin of Charleston, South Carolina; grandchildren Reagan Bryant, Colston Bryant, Brooke Burgin and Aaron Burgin; a brother, Curtis Douglas Spillars of Ellerbe; and a host of family and friends that all loved her dearly.

She was predeceased by brothers Michael Spillars and Sammy Spillars.

The family will receive friends for visitation Saturday, Oct. 19th, 2024 from 1-3 p.m. at First Methodist Church’s Fellowship Hall. The funeral will begin at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Darrell Bowles officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond County Memorial Park.

In addition to flowers, memorial donations can be made to Our Daily Bread of First Methodist Church at 410 E. Washington St., Rockingham, NC 28379; or to Samaritan Colony Inc. at 136 Samaritan Drive, Rockingham, NC 28379.
