LILESVILLE — Basil Paul Lynch, 82, of Lilesville, passed away Tueday, June 20, 2023 at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte.
He was born Jan. 27, 1941, in Roane County, West Virginia, son of the late Clayburn Lunch and Opal Tibble.
Basil was an avid car collector and enjoyed buying, selling and trading classic cars. He was a member of car clubs in North Carolina and West Virginia. While he loved his cars, his pride and joy was his granddaughter, Ayla. Basil also served as a master mason and became a Shriner, believing in the fraternity’s principles of brotherly love, relief and truth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clayburn Lynch and Opal Tibble Eppling.
Basil is survived by his wife, Delores Coe Lynch of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Travis and Christa Lynch of Leland; granddaughter, Ayla Lynch; stepson, Tim Knopp of Lilesville; step-grandson, Tyler Knopp; brother, Charles Lynch and wife Carol, of Spencer, West Virginia; sister, Barbara Karickhoff and husband Ray, of Spencer, West Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
All services will be held private by the family.
