Bobby C. Steen, 87, of Hamlet, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, Sept. 12, 2025 at his home.
He was born June 11, 1938 in Hamlet, son of the late Willard and Neita Steen.
Bobby was a strong man of faith, loved Jesus, and attended the Hamlet Church of God of Prophecy. He was a hard worker, working with CSX railroad prior to retirement.
Bobby enjoyed his annual fishing trips to the beach, Raider football games, and spending time gardening and raking in his yard. He loved his family and especially his loving wife of 46 years, Leatha.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Leatha Smith Steen; brothers, Richard, Harold, Harl and Carl Steen; and sisters, Martha Estridge, Juanita Quick and Alice Murchison.
Left to cherish Bobby’s memories is his daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Robert Rutherford of Hamlet; grandchildren, Justin Rutherford and wife Brittany, and Jennie Meece and husband Alan, all of Hamlet; great-grandchildren, Rose Meece, Rosaleigh Rutherford, Rowan Rutherford, Maverick Meece and Mallie Bea Meece; brothers, Jeff Steen of Wallace, South Carolina and Gary Steen of Hamlet; sister, Virginia Miller of Ocala, Florida; nieces who were like daughters, Cindy Polson, Sheila Whitten, Melinda English and Sally Strickland; adopted daughter, Christy Dixon; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family that loved him dearly.
Visitation will be Monday, Sept. 15, 2025 from 11 a.m.-noon at the Hamlet Church of God of Prophecy.
The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, beginning at noon, with Bishop Steve Crews and Tony Clewis officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
At other times, the family will receive friends at the family home, Cheraw Road, Hamlet.
