OBITUARY: Brian Edward Holloway

Brian Edward Holloway, son of Donald Ray Holloway and Barbara (Tyner), and stepson of David, who raised him after his father’s passing, passed away on March 20, 2025 at Richmond County Hospice Haven.

Brian was an avid sports fan and outdoorsman. He enjoyed playing baseball in his early life and loved watching all sports. He spent a lot of his time in the gamelands where his passion for outdoors and military grew.

He was known as a military history buff throughout his life. He enlisted in the United States Army where he was assigned to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, as a combat engineer. He was a part of Special Ops. Mountain Warfare.

He was a veteran of the Gulf War, serving in Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm with the 20th Engineer Brigade Combat Airborne Corps. After his army career, he served in the National Guard. He continued working to serve and protect in his civilian life, working mainly in various protective service occupations of corrections, security, and as a jailer.

He is survived by special friend and caregiver, Tammie Kirby of Hamlet; daughter, Victoria; his grandchildren, Asia, Clay and Jason; his Aunt Brenda and Uncle Johnnie; several cousins, and a host of longtime friends, including Eric, Teresa, Mark, Tammy and John.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ray, and mother, Barbara; and sons, Matthew Aaron Holloway and Gunner Reed Holloway; in addition to his grandparents, Fred Sr and Niecy Holloway, and Zeb Vance and Elana Tyner.
