Carl Franklin Richardson, 79, of Rockingham, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at Richmond County Hospice Haven.
He was born May 30, 1946 in Hamlet, son of the late Baxter Richardson and Ella Mae Campbell Richardson.
Carl worked with Richmond County Schools as a math and science teacher for more than 30 years. He enjoyed teaching and guiding students throughout his career. He loved sports, especially Duke athletics and the Atlanta Braves, and in earlier years, he enjoyed playing the game of golf. He was a very unselfish gentleman and loved his family dearly.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Altman; and brother, Allison Richardson.
Left to cherish Carl’s memories are his wife, Mary Jo Outlaw Richardson of the home; son, Eric Altman of Rockingham; and grandson, Drew Altman.
Graveside services will be conducted on Monday, July 7, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Richmond County Memorial Park, with interment to follow the service.
