Carole Thrower Jenkins, 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 14, 2025.
Carole was born in June of 1940 to Stephen Thomas Thrower and Geneva Boston Thrower.
In addition to her Mama and Daddy, she is also preceded in death by her son, Stephen Wayne Jenkins.
Left to cherish her memories and love are her children, her son, Lt. Col. (R) George Mark Jenkins of Kuwait; daughters, Charlotte A. Jenkins of Rockingham and Amy Benson of New Bern; sister, Eleanor Sue Graves of Charleston South Carolina; and her aunt, Edna Wheeler of Hamlet. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, as well as many other friends and family.
Carole was a member of the Rockingham High School Class of 1958. She graduated from RTC with an associate degree in nursing in 1979. She began her nursing career with Scotland Memorial in the nursery taking care of healthy and sick babies. She then began working for Richmond Memorial Hospital, where she held several positions until her retirement.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Richmond County Memorial Park. Family will receive visitors after the service and other times at the home. For the service, Carole wished that everyone would attend in casual attire (blue jeans and T-shirts).
