Posted

Charles Larry Chappell, 64, of Marston, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

He was born May 17, 1961 in Richmond County, son of the late Fred Charles Chappell and Mary Lee Terry Chappell.

Larry was a member of Mount Carmel Free Will Baptist Church, Rockingham, and dearly loved his church family.  Over the years, he enjoyed fishing and hunting, and especially trips to the beach in Cherry Grove, South Carolina.

Larry also loved old cars and participating in car shows.  He was very active in his earlier years driving 18-wheelers, baled pinestraw for many years, and was a car salesman, owning and operating Chappell’s Auto Sales.

His family fondly remembers that Larry always passed out candy, whether to a stranger, or with his church family, hospital visits, and doctor offices.  Larry had a humorous personality and loved to joke.  He was a caring man that truly loved and especially loved his family.  His grandchildren were a highlight in his life.  He will be dearly missed.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Fred Charles Chappell and Mary Lee Terry Chappell.

Left to cherish his memories are his children, Amanda Chappell of Rockingham, Brandon Chappell of Marston and Christopher Chappell (Jordan) of Rockingham; his beloved grandchildren, Grayson Kinlaw, Hayden Chappell, Ahnalee Chappell and Addison Chappell; brother, Mark Chappell (Amber) of Hamlet; sisters, Cindy Pearson of Marston, Teresa Brown (William) of Hamlet and Debbie King of Mount Gilead; uncle, Buck Chappell of Hamlet; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025 from 6-8 p.m. at Harrington Funeral Home, Hamlet.

The funeral service will be Thursday, Nov. 20, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Mount Carmel Free Will Baptist Church, Rockingham, with Pastor Mike Childers and Pastor Eddie Hildreth officiating.  Burial will follow at Richmond County Memorial Park.
