Cherie Freeman Moore, 90, of Hamlet, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family Monday, March 3, 2025, at Richmond County Hospice Haven.
Cherie was born Oct. 13, 1934, to the late Coy Mitchell Freeman and Marjorie Tennant Salome.
She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Hamlet and loved the Lord. She was a devoted mother and wife, who loved her children and grandchildren. Her family remembers her being full of life and they also remember her love of painting.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Edward Moore; stepfather, Lewis Salome; sons, Lane Edward Moore and Larry Dean Moore; and daughter, Cherie Ellen Chaffee.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Margie Galanos (husband, George) of Woodbridge, Virginia; son, David “Mike” Mitchell Moore (wife, Paula) of Lake Wylie, South Carolina; grandchildren, Bobby, Jessica, Daniel, Tonya, Mark, LJ, George, Coy, and numerous great-grandchildren; brother, Chris Salome (Christine) of Georgia; sister, Lynette Wilkes (G.W.) of Raleigh; and her best friend ever, Jane Bingham!
The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date.
