Deborah “Debbie” Horne Johnson, 68, of Hamlet, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
She was born on Oct. 6, 1957 in Richmond County to the late James L. Horne and Carol Tyner Horne.
Debbie earned her Registered Nursing degree from the Hamlet School of Nursing, Class of 1984. She served the majority of her career with Hamlet Hospital, however she also spent time as a travel nurse. She sincerely cared for her patients as well as her co-workers.
Debbie was the best wife and mother anyone could ever ask for. She lived her life putting her family first and would often do without herself to make sure those she loved had everything they needed. Her forgiving spirit, kind heart, and selfless love touched everyone who knew her.
Known as “Granny” to all children, she had a special way of making every child feel loved and welcomed. Some of her happiest memories were spent at the lake with her grandkids, cheering at the ballfields, and enjoying a good book in quiet moments.
She will be remembered for her strength, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her love and presence will be deeply missed but forever carried in the hearts of those who loved her.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bo Horne Jr.
