OBITUARY: Delores Webster Honeycutt

Posted

Delores “Lois” Webster Honeycutt, 82, of Hamlet, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born April 22, 1944, in Raeford, daughter of the late Pride Paul Webster and Ida Lee Leviner Webster.

Our mother and grandmother was a nurturing, devoted matriarch whose unconditional love will forever guide us. She was never happier than when she was surrounded with her family, which were her true loves. A gentle, sweet soul who always made each child, grandchild, and family member feel special and loved.

She was a spitfire sweetheart with a heart of gold that would fiercely defend you and then bake you some cookies. Only a rare few were built like this beautiful lady. She loved to dance and listen to music, with her favorite, of course, being Elvis Presley. She was always ready to jump in the car and ride, especially if the word thrift shop was involved or beach (her home away from home). A caregiver, homemaker, and creative soul that loved her collection of baby dolls (any type). She made one of the best red velvet cakes in town.

She taught us patience, kindness, and the importance of laughter. A guiding light, whose grace, warmth, compassion, faith and gentle strength will continue to shine through her family and those blessed to know her.

Along with her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Royce Lee Honeycutt; great-grandson, Christopher “Little Chris” Huckabee Jr.; brothers, Edgar, Jimmy, John, Paul and Alfred; and sisters, Alma Hester and Betty Shephard.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Linda Honeycutt and Priscilla Chavis, both of Hamlet, and Frances Honeycutt of Rockingham; grandchildren, Catherine Chavis, Rebecca Bouldin (Butch), Christopher Huckabee and Gerald Huckabee Jr.; great-grandchildren, Katie McIntyre, Dannica Locklear and Brianna Bouldin; great-great-grandchild, Bristol Norton; brother, Robert Webster of Hamlet; and sister, Jackie Rankin (Mike) of Rockingham.

Visitation will be Friday, May 8, 2026, from noon-1 p.m. at Harrington Funeral Home, Hamlet.

The funeral service will follow visitation, at 1 p.m., in the chapel of Harrington Funeral Home with Pastor Robby Stewart officiating.  Burial will be at McDonald Cemetery, Laurel Hill.
