Dennis George Thompson, 65 of Lexington, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, surrounded by his loved ones.
Dennis was born Feb. 1, 1960 in Moore County to Leon G. Thompson and Lois Tilley Thompson Hall.
He was a beloved son, husband, father, grandpa and brother. He loved the outdoors, building houses and working with his hands; as well as fishing, hunting and spending time with his family and friends. He really loved his furry companion, Lee; most of the time if you saw Dennis, you saw Lee. Dennis never met a stranger.
Surviving are his children, Jennifer Barrier (Bryan) and Jonathan Thompson (Lisa); grandchildren, Kaila and Chloe; and siblings, Gale Rotundo (Art), Becky McMillan (Smokey), Debbie Thompson, Alice Taylor (Robbie) and Douglas Thompson (Felicia); as well as many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Dennis in death are his beloved parents, wonderful step-parents, Roger Hall and Magadeline Currie Thompson; and his former wife and companion, Joy Thompson.
We will be saying our last goodbyes to Dennis but we will never forget him. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 2025 at Mount Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 1367 Clayton Carriker Road, Ellerbe. The family will greet friends following the service.
