Dennis Warren Reynolds, 62, of Ellerbe, passed away at home on Monday, June 23, 2025.
Dennis was born to the late Lester Reynolds and Lillie Mabe Reynolds, on Sept. 26, 1962.
Dennis, also known as “Moose,” was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Ellerbe where he also sang. He served on the Ellerbe Fire Department for 25 years, prior to becoming disabled.
He loved all things Carolina Tar Heels, especially basketball, the “Andy Griffith Show,” and NASCAR. His family remembers his love for beach music and how he would make his requests for it at the WLWL radio station. He loved his kids and was very proud of them. His granddaughter was the light of his life. He is fondly thought of as a “gentle giant.”
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Amanda Kay Reynolds; and his brother, Butch Reynolds.
Dennis is survived by his sons, Spc. Nicholas John Reynolds (Liz) of Oklahoma and Benjamin James Reynolds of Hamlet; granddaughter, Mari Locklear; brother, Rick Reynolds (Tammy) of Southern Pines; sister, Mary Reynolds Shankle (Ronald) of Rockingham; sister-in-law, Linda Reynolds of Matthews; the mother of his children, Lori Reynolds of Ellerbe; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held at New Hope Baptist Church in Ellerbe on Friday, June 27, 2025, from 9:45-10:45 am.
The funeral service will follow the visitation at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Tim Hawks officiating.
Burial will be at Ellerbe Cemetery.
At other times, the family will be receiving friends at the home of his sister, Mary and Ronald Shankle, in Rockingham.
