Diane Folger Lane, affectionately known as “Nana,” 78, of Hamlet, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital-Richmond, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born April 12, 1947 in Hamlet, daughter of the late Guy O. Folger and Zula Webb Folger.
Diane was a member of Second Baptist Church, Hamlet, where she attended Sunday school, was a part of Women on Mission, and she dearly loved being with her church family.
She was the former owner and operator of Hamlet Florist where she was creative with her talents. Diane loved flowers and gardening at her home as well. In prior years, she also volunteered her time with Place of Grace.
Her greatest joy was her family and spending time with them, especially her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by them and all of her friends.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 49 years, William Lane; brothers, Roger Smith, Larry Wayne Williams and Julius Arnold; sister, Ladonna (B.J.) Hinson; and sister-in-law, Millie Vickers.
Diane is survived by her children, Michelle Lane of Hamlet and Brandi Covington (Frank Manship) of Jamestown; grandchildren, Kimberly Glidewell (Keagan), J.T. Mayo, G.W. Mayo and Roger Dale Mayo; great-grandchildren, Talen and Blaire Glidewell; brother, Johnny Vickers of Hamlet; sister, Melinda Conner of Pinebluff; sister-in-law, Kathy Smith of Hamlet; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Janet Lane of Alabama; her best friend, Sandra Covington; her beloved dog, Cocoa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Thursday, July 10, 2025 from 2-3 p.m. at Second Baptist Church, Hamlet.
The memorial service will immediately follow visitation, beginning at 3 p.m., with Pastor Chris Hawks officiating.
