OBITUARY: Donna Meacham

Posted

Donna Meacham excitedly entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on June 19, 2025.

Donna was born on July 9, 1948, the only child of Mildred and Bynum Meacham.  She was a lifetime resident of Richmond County.

Donna graduated from Rockingham High School in 1966 and later attended Kings College.

She worked at JP Stevens a few years before she started her career at Georgia Pacific (later to become Hood Packaging) in 1973. She started as accounts payable clerk and worked up to customer service manager in her 40-plus years before retiring in 2013. She made many friends during these years.

Donna was a member of Glenwood United Methodist Church for 70-plus years, holding many offices and singing in the choir, before becoming a charter member of 3 Rock Church in 2021. She loved her church family and especially her pastor, Joel Perry who has always been there in good times and not so good. Her faith in God was unwavering and was always evident if you talked to her long.  Her kindness, generosity, humor, and gentle spirit are all a model for us to carry forward.

Donna volunteered at Our Daily Bread and enjoyed the clients and all the volunteers she worked with there.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved friend, Susan Tibbs.

She leaves behind many cousins and friends; her cherished cat, Eddie; and dear friends Karen Benoist and Nancy Cauthen. A special thank you to all the staff at Richmond County Hospice as Donna thought she was treated like a queen in her time there.

Friends can be received for visitation from 10– 11 a.m. on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 3 Rock Church in Rockingham. A memorial service to honor Donna will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Joel Perry officiating.

Memorials may be made to 3 Rock Church 540 East Broad Avenue Suite F, Rockingham, NC 28379; or Richmond County Hospice, 1149 U.S. Hwy 1 N. Rockingham, NC 28379.

Online condolences may be made at watson-kingfuneralhome.com. Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham is serving the Meacham family.
