Franklin “Mack” McLean Haigler, 98, of Rockingham, passed away Friday May 23, 2025.

Mack was a son of the late James Franklin and Mary Jane Haigler, born Aug. 7, 1926, in Rockingham.

Along with his parents, Mack is preceded in death by eight siblings; his son, James “Jimmy” Haigler; first wife, Margaret Allen Haigler; and second wife, Ina Harding Haigler.

Mack lived in Rockingham his entire life, however there was an exception. In 1944, Mack enlisted in the United States Navy to defend our country and constitution during the second World War, a time of strife and uncertainty. He was honorably discharged almost a year after the war came to an end and found his way back home to Rockingham.

Following his service, he worked as a route salesman for different bread companies. Mack was well known around town and had a surplus of friends. He had a special bond with his grand-dog, Pixie, and enjoyed his daily visits to Burger King in Raeford to visit with his good friends Chasity, James (AL) and the rest of the crew; all of whom will miss him dearly.

Mack is survived by his granddaughter, Miranda Haigler Roberts (Andy), of Raeford; daughter-in-law, Ginger Haigler McLain of Rockingham; a sister, Betty Haigler Adams of Ocean Isle Beach; stepchildren, Donna Campbell (Larry) of Fuquay Varina, Jim Harding (Alicia) of Rockingham, Jerry Harding (Heather) of Calabash, and Bob Harding (Christie) of Angier; 18 step-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends for visitation from noon  to 2 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2025 at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Joel Perry officiating in Watson-King’s chapel. Burial with masonic rites and military honors will be conducted at Richmond Co. Memorial Park.
