Gaynelle Brock Moon, 78, of Rockingham, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026, at her home.
She was born in Lumberton on March 17, 1948 to the late Clayton Brock and Annie Mae Brock.
She was a kind and pleasant woman who touched the lives of many through her gentle spirit, grace, and love for others.
She dedicated more than 30 years of her life to serving as a teacher assistant at Fairview Heights Elementary School in Hamlet. She cared deeply for the children and families she worked with and was known for her kindness and patience.
She cherished spending time with her daughter and enjoyed being with her grandchildren. She loved shopping, making crafts, and working word puzzles. She loved her church family, and her faith was an important part of her life. She also volunteered with Our Daily Bread, where she continued to show compassion and grace to those around her.
She leaves behind many cherished memories and will be deeply missed by her family, friends, church family, former coworkers, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Along with her parents, Gaynelle was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Wayne Moon; son, Robert Dwayne Moon; brothers, Buddy Brock and Thomas Ray Brock; and sister, Shirley Smith.
Left to cherish her memories, daughter, Aimee Moon Diggs (Mac) of Rockingham; son, David Wayne Moon (Robin), also of Rockingham; grandchildren, Ashleigh McLean (Taylor), Shelby Diggs and Avery Diggs; and great-grandchildren, Madison and Gunner.
A visitation will be held at First Methodist Church, Rockingham on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026, from 11 a.m.-noon, in the fellowship hall.
The funeral service will follow the visitation at noon, with the Rev. Darrel Bowles officiating.
Interment will follow at Culdee Presbyterian Church Cemetery in West End, alongside her husband.
At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, 104 Shady Wood Drive, Rockingham.
