Gena Simmons, 60, of Rockingham passed away Friday, Oct. 18, 2024 at Richmond Co. Hospice Haven.
She was born June 17, 1964 in Richmond County, a daughter of Jill Fountain Simmons and the late Bobby Eugene Simmons.
Gena’s personality was infectious, she loved to make people smile and was well known for playing music and making people laugh when she worked at Richmond Memorial Hospital in Rockingham. She reflected fondly on her short tenure at Belk in Southern Pines where she was loved by all who interacted with her.
Gena’s biggest love was spending time with family, friends and her dog, Katie. Her happy place was her own yard where she spent hours sitting in her swing listening to her wind chimes, tending to her flowers and, painting lawn sculptures that she proudly displayed.
A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Richmond Co. Memorial Park with Richmond Co. Hospice Chaplain Paula Daigle officiating.
Surviving, a daughter, Chastity Noble (Eric); her mother, Jill Fountain Simmons; brothers, Ronnie Simmons (Terri) and Kenny Simmons (Hilda); beloved puppy, Katie.
