Mrs. Glenda C. Cox, a respected mother, grandmother and devoted wife, passed away peacefully on Oct. 11, 2025 at the age of 86.
Born on the Caribbean Island of Trinidad and Tobago, she was the beloved widow of James W. Cox. After relocating to the United States, she first settled in New York City, and later spent two decades in Paterson, New Jersey, where she worked as a nurse’s assistant. Demonstrating her entrepreneurial spirit, she then created her own successful small business cleaning company specializing in commercial, residential and industrial accounts.
A faithful and devoted woman, Mrs. Cox spent more than half her life traveling the world participating in different fellowships. She discerned her calling, gained practical experience in ministry, and went through the formal ordination process, becoming Pastor Glenda C. Cox.
A true "Jill of All Trades," Pastor Cox loved to travel and spent her time on many hobbies, including crocheting, sewing, baking, cooking, gardening and farming. Her legacy of humanitarian mission work, love, and devotion will forever resonate in the hearts of those she touched.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Glenda V. Mullings, Felicia F. Turner and Jimeka D. Turner, as well as numerous friends and family members. Mrs. Cox will be deeply missed by her devoted granddaughter Glenda V. Mullings and her caring neighbors, the Shermans and Houstons.
A private celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2025 at Harrington Funeral Home & Crematory, located at 214 McDonald Ave., Hamlet.
Granddaughter Glenda V. Mullings extends heartfelt gratitude to the nursing home staff for their compassionate care, the Shermans and Houstons for their unwavering support, and all of her friends in the Laurinburg Community whose lives she touched.
