Golda McKeithan Brigman, 91, of Prestwick Village, Laurinburg, formerly of Hamlet, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Dec. 13, 1932 in Richmond County, daughter of the late James Austin McKeithan and Ida May Gibson McKeithan.
Along with her parents, Golda was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Finley Brigman Sr.; brother, Charles McKeithan; and sisters, Juanita Luther, Jacqueline Wilson and Shirley McKeithan.
Golda, or as she was known to her grandchildren “Goldie or Nanny,” was a dedicated nurse, wife, mother and grandmother. She worked with many doctors over her career but finished out her career in nursing working for the Richmond County Health Department where she was known as the "Clorox Queen." After her retirement, she continued to be the families’ personal nurse and was her husband’s caregiver as his Alzheimer’s progressed.
She loved to travel in her spare time and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grands and nieces and nephews. She would go to great lengths to entertain the children, even attempting to walk a barrel to entertain her granddaughters. She was known for her famous blue-ribbon award-winning pound cakes, which she gladly shared with friends and family.
Golda is survived by her son, Robert “Bobby” Finley Brigman Jr. and wife, Lenette, of Hamlet; granddaughters, Ashleigh Buie and husband Jonathan of Ellerbe, and Schaley Coulter and husband Matt of Denver; great-grandchildren, Destiny Buie, Emily Buie and Beau Coulter; and sister, Mary Linda Rozier of Lumberton.
Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Richmond County Memorial Park with Ricky Shelley officiating. Burial will follow the service.
