OBITUARY: Harold Dean Davis

Mr. Harold Dean “Bucky” Davis, 81, of Rockingham, passed away at his home on Monday, April 20, 2026.

He was born on April 25, 1944 to the late Alfred Chillious Davis Sr. and Minnie Monroe Davis.

Bucky was preceded in death by his parents; brothers James Monroe “Jimmy” Davis, Robert Franklin “Bobby” Davis, John William “Bill” Davis and Alfred Chillious Davis Jr.; sisters Ferol Davis Jarrell, Elsie Davis Allen, Annie Belle Davis Hanselman and Virginia Blaine Davis all of Rockingham. 

Bucky is survived by his sisters, Peggy Davis Warren and Carol Davis Norton, both of Rockingham. He is also survived by two special nieces, Amy Tatum, and family, of Hamlet, and Jennifer Hurlocker, and family, of Concord. Also surviving are his two beloved fur babies, Buck and Buster, and a multitude of friends. 

Bucky was a 1962 graduate of Rockingham High School and was recognized for having never missed a day of school in 12 years. He had a long career in the textile industry and was known for his big heart and generous nature. Bucky gave to everyone he came in contact with — for many years he grew a large vegetable garden, just to give it away. 

The family will receive friends at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham on Sunday, April 26, 2026 from 4 to 6 p.m. A graveside service will be held at the Northam Cemetery on Monday, April 27, 2026 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mitchell Roller officiating.
