Helen Carlisle Staton, 83, of Rockingham, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Richmond County Hospice Haven.
Helen was born on Oct. 7, 1941, to the late Nash Grover Carlisle and Marie Chavis Carlisle.
Helen was a member of Southside Freewill Baptist Church in Ellerbe for more than 30 years. She loved her grandbabies and spending holidays with her family. She loved to shop, especially at Walmart, and loved talking on the phone. Her family recalls her obsession with Elvis Presley and how she loved to travel to Tennessee.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, George E. Staton; sons, Glenn Blanton and David Blanton; brothers, Donald Ray Carlisle, J.W. Carlisle and Jimmy Carlisle; and sisters, Shirley Irvin and Julie Ann Carlisle.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Denise McKenzie (Malcolm) of Rockingham; sons, Jeff Blanton (Tammy) of Hamlet and Lawrence Blanton of Rockingham; sister, Sarah Benton of Laurel Hill; seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; and best friends, Peggy Lassiter, Peggy Sue Knight and Beulah Currie.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025, from 3-4 p.m., at Southside Freewill Baptist Church in Ellerbe, with a funeral service immediately following at 4 p.m., with the Rev. Stephen Ashby and Pastor Gene Alexander officiating.
At other times the family will be receiving visitors at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Richmond County Hospice Haven, 1119 U.S. Hwy 1 N., Rockingham, NC 28379.
