Henry Robert Moss, 92, of Rockingham passed away surrounded by his loving family Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Richmond County Hospice Haven.
Henry was a son of the late Thomas Kenan Moss Sr. and Aleene Kissiah Moss Tyson born Dec. 18, 1932.
Along with his parents, Henry is preceded in death by brothers Roy Moss, Bob Moss, Don Moss and Barry Moss, as well as sisters Grace Watts, Betty Benfield and Martha Gore.
From 1950 to 1954, Henry served an honorable four years to his country in the United States Air Force. In later years, he would complete his GED and go on to take welding and electrical courses at Richmond Technical Institute. For work, Henry retired from Sara Lee Hosiery working in maintenance and from Richmond County Schools for janitorial work.
Henry was a man of faith. He attended Mount Beulah Pentecostal Holiness Church for many years. He enjoyed tending to his garden and sharing the crops he grew with others and making things for others from working in his shop. Above all, Henry enjoyed spending time with his family.
Left to cherish his memory include his wife of 70 years, Loretta Dixon Moss; his children, Nadine Moss (Johnny Patrick), Mike Moss (Phyllis) and Pam Moss Via (Chris); grandchildren, Jessica M. Cloninger (Anthony Barnes), Kenny Moss (Amanda), Jaclyn Murphy, Kristen M. Hurst (Ben), Katelyn M. Yarbrough (Paul), Caleb Via (Kiley Niles) and Seth Via; great-grandchildren, Kaleigh and Madyson Cloninger, Tatum and Tucker Moss, Londyn Hurst, Ryleigh and Katie Rayne Yarbrough; siblings, Dot Moss Hatley, Bill Moss (Rachel), Judy Moss Tarleton, Nancy Moss Teal; and sister-in-law, Marie Moss. Henry also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends, all who will miss him dearly.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Mount Beulah Pentecostal Holiness Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Kenneth Baber and the Rev. Richard Stubbs officiating. Burial with military honors be held at Richmond Co. Memorial Park. Military honors will be presented by AMVETS Post 316 Honor Guard.
The family would like to give acknowledgement to caregivers Jellika Linsdey and the staff of Richmond County Hospice for their dedicated care to Henry.
