Hester Goins Goodwin Dillon, 89, of Ellerbe, completed her earthly journey on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2025.
Mrs. Dillon was born March 26, 1936, in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Willie Elmer and Rosa Culler Goins.
She had farmed tobacco, worked with Tartan Boat Company and with Super Dollar. She was also a member of Joy Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, William Wesley Goodwin and Ed Dillon; son, Melvin Leon Goodwin; and siblings, Bet Kiger, Ruby Carpenter, Virgil Goins, the Rev. Otis Goins and Robert Goins.
She is survived by her sons, Michael W. “Mike” Goodwin (Melody) and Darryl Goodwin; grandchildren, Michelle Bullins (David), Brent Goodwin and Chris Goodwin (Julia); and great-grandchildren, Cody Goodwin and Tyler Goodwin.
The family will receive friends from 12:45–1:45 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2025, followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe with Pastor June Grant officiating. Interment will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery.
