Irene Bowers Richardson, 80, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital-Richmond.
Born on May 24, 1946 in Richmond County, Irene was the daughter of the late William Edgar Bowers and Lena Mae Smith Bowers.
Irene was a woman of deep faith, unwavering kindness, and a generous spirit. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose life was rooted in love for God, family, and hard work. Growing up on a farm, she developed a strong work ethic that remained with her throughout her life. Alongside her husband, she spent many years farming and took great pride in the life they built together.
Irene found joy in gardening and was known for her beautiful flower beds and flourishing vegetable gardens. She loved canning vegetables, sewing, and jewelry. Her talents and dedication were reflected in everything she did, whether tending her garden, caring for her family, or helping a neighbor in need.
A kind-hearted woman, Irene was always willing to lend a helping hand to others. Her Christian faith was central to her life, and in earlier years she faithfully studied Scripture with her children, instilling in them the values and teachings she held dear. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her strong faith, and the love she shared so freely with those around her.
Above all, Irene cherished her family. She dearly loved her children and grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride. Her legacy of faith, kindness, perseverance, and love will continue to live on in their hearts and in the lives of all who were blessed to know her.
