OBITUARY: James Christopher Hodges

Posted

James Christopher Hodges, 53, of Marston, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2025.

He was born to the late James Everett Hodges and Patricia Hodges on June 27, 1972.

James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. For more than 30 years, he worked proudly as a truck driver — first learning the craft from his Uncle Hubert and later passing that knowledge on to his own sons. He traveled across the country, seeing the roads, rivers, and small towns that most only hear about.

He was a jack of all trades, able to fix anything or quickly figure out how. If his wife wanted something built, he made it happen. He had an incredible love for music. He loved all kinds and could name a song from the very first beat.

In his free time, he loved to catfish and to ride four-wheelers. He cherished camping at the river, evening skies, and time spent on Ocracoke Island. He was an avid pool player and never passed up a chance for friendly competition.

BBQ was one of his passions, and in 2024 he proudly took first place in the Our House Tri-County Children’s First Annual BBQ Cook-Off for Kids.

May he rest in peace, and may his stories, his music, and his spirit stay with us always.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Everett Hodges; and son, Marc Elliotte Hodges.

James is survived by his wife, Janet Hodges; sons, James Christopher Hodges Jr. and Ryan Christopher Hodges; grandchildren, Amorah Hodges, Amiyah Hodges, Ryleigh Hodges and Brayleigh Hodges; mother, Patricia Hodges; brother, Shoan Hodges; and sister, Patricia Renee Lancaster.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2025, from 2-3 p.m. at Ghio Church of God of Prophecy in Hamlet.

The service will immediately follow the visitation at 3 p.m., with Pastor Dean Dixon officiating.

Burial will be held privately.

Harrington Funeral Home is serving the Hodges family.
