James Dean Dawkins, 58, of Hamlet, passed away at his home on Thursday, June 18, 2026.
He was born in Richmond County on March 7, 1968 to the late Thomas Leath Dawkins and Jacqueline Delain Frye.
Dean is fondly remembered as a good-hearted man who would help anyone he could. He loved adventure and traveling. Most of all he cherished his nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Along with his parents, Dean was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Carrie Dawkins; and brother, Michael Eugene Dawkins.
He is survived by his son, James Dean Dawkins of Rockingham; brothers, Eddie Dawkins and Mitchell Dawkins (Lori Ann), all of Hamlet; sisters, Donna Hayes and Tracy Goodwin, both also of Hamlet; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Bubba.
Services will be held at a later date.
