James Everette Steen Sr., affectionately known as “George,” passed away Friday, Jan. 10, 2025 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Richmond.
He was born Sept. 11, 1946, in Marlboro County, South Carolina, son of the late J.B. Steen and Irene Paul Steen.
George loved fishing and hunting, and especially his bi-annual beach fishing trips with the boys! He loved working his garden and enjoyed spending time in his garden. He also had a loved of old cars and attending car shows. His greatest love in life was his family — he loved them dearly. George never stopped living his best life and lived it well until the very end.
He is preceded in death by his parents, J.B. and Irene Steen; son, Jamie Steen; and brother, Pap Steen.
George is survived by his daughter, Michelle Flowers (Jody) of Chapin, South Carolina; grandson, Andrew Flowers (Morgan); great-granddaughters, Lucy and Miller; sister, Panky Steen of Bennettsville, South Carolina; brothers, Harold Steen (Gerline) of Bennettsville, South Carolina, and Ronnie Steen (Elaine) of Hamlet; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025 from 6-8 p.m. at Harrington Funeral Home, Hamlet.
The funeral service will be Monday, Jan. 13, 2025 in the chapel of Harrington Funeral Home beginning at 2 p.m. with Pastor Jody Flowers, his son-in-law, and Pastor Dean Dixon officiating. Burial will follow at Ghio Church of God of Prophecy Cemetery.
