James Gordon Williams Sr., 74, of Cordova, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026 at his home.
He was born April 3, 1951 in Asheville, a son of the late Gordon and Bertha Williams.
James retired from Pepsi Bottling Company after many years of dedicated service. In his free time, he found joy in NASCAR racing, Bassmaster Fishing, and hunting. A devoted fan of UNC basketball, he rarely missed watching a game. Above all, James cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought him endless pride and happiness. He will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his loyalty, and the way he treasured those closest to him.
He was preceded in death by his brother, George Williams; and his daughter, Jodi Williams Harrell.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 19, 2026 at 2 p.m. at Watson-King Funeral Home Chapel in Hamlet with his son, Pastor Jimmy Williams, officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Circle Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30- 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Debbie Williams; a son, Pastor Jimmy Williams (Susan); a son-in law, Benjie Harrell; grandchildren, Kelsey Williams, Jordan Williams, Jonathan Harrell (Caitlin), Katie Williams (Josh Otis) and Jamie Harrell; great-grandchildren, Oliver Williams and baby Otis (expected soon); sisters, Nettie Hutchins (Mike) and Nola Payne; brothers, Tommy Willams (Ruthenia) and Joe Williams (Angie); numerous nieces and nephews; bonus grandchildren, Ben Harrell and Taylor Musselwhite and their children; and a special bonus daughter, Nikki Reid.
