Janice Melton Hogan, 88, of Rockingham passed away Monday, Aug. 11, 2025 at Quail Haven Retirement Village in Pinehurst.
She was born Nov. 3, 1936 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late John and Ollie Carpenter Melton.
She retired from JP Stevens and was a member of The Church of God of Prophecy in Rockingham. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. She was a wonderful grandmother, and she loved making all her family the best chocolate oatmeal cookies.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Scott Hogan Sr.; a son, William Scott Hogan Jr. and brothers, John Pope, Bill Pope, Donnie Melton, Mitchell Melton and Rodney Melton.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Aug. 14, 2025 at The Church of God of Prophecy in Rockingham at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Steve Gilmer officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond Co. Memorial Park.
Surviving are her children, Teresa Hodges (Allen), Brian Steven (Patricia) and Kimberly Hogan; grandchildren, Courtney Hogan, Mitchell Hodges (Toni), Holli Brown (Justin), Hillary Hogan, Madison Hogan and William Greene; great-grandchildren, Noah Hogan, Chandler Garner, Aleigha Hogan, Jed Hodges, Liam Hodges, Lexi Brown, Lilly Brown, Maelyn Blount, Everleigh Blount, Landon Blount and Sutton Hogan; great-great-granddaughter, Elleighana Hogan; and a brother, Jimmy “Banjo” Melton.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times her home, 132 Southwood Drive, Rockingham.
