Mr. Jason Franklin Jacobs, age 49, of Rockingham, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2026 at Richmond County Hospice, with family around him.
He was born Nov. 21, 1976 in Richmond County, son of the late Herman Franklin Jacobs Jr. (Frog) and Brenda Louann Gathings.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Etta Hodges and Herman "Franklin" Jacobs; and his maternal grandparents, Rhumill Davis Jr. and Brenda Stubbs Grant; and his aunt, Cindy Nichols.
Jason was a simple man with a big heart; he enjoyed being outside messing around in the yard, and loved animals.
Jason is survived by his son, Jordan Franklin Jacobs of Rockingham; brothers, David Baggett of Pageland, South Carolina, Matt Ward of Wallace, South Carolina; two granddaughters, Rilee Jacobs, of Bennettsville, South Carolina and Madelyne Radford of Hamlet; stepmom, Darlene Jacobs of Wallace, South Carolina; aunt, Elaine Huckabee, of Hamlet; uncle, David Grant (Karen) of Foxfire; uncle, Eddie Nichols of Rockingham; aunt, Karen McQueen of Rockingham; and special cousins, Alex Odom (Dru) of Rockingham, Eric Nichols (Christy) of Rockingham, Hope Polson Blue (Jamie) of Hamlet, Marie Polson Tucker(Leonard) of Campbellsville, Kentucky, Odessa Robinson (Stevie) of Hamlet, Dustin McQueen (Kelly) of Rockingham, and Steven McQueen(Ashlee), of Rockingham.
There will be a memorial service for Jason on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026 from 2-4 p.m. at Southridge Baptist Church, 171 Clemmer Road, Rockingham, with Pastor Ronnie Wayne Chavis officiating.
