Jerry Mitchell Rogers Sr., 76, of Wallace, South Carolina, passed away Thursday, Oct. 29, 2026 at his home.
He was born Feb. 28, 1950 in Richmond County, a son of the late Robert Thomas and Virginia Bowers Rogers.
Jerry served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. After his military service he was a truck driver for many years and later the owner of Jerry Rogers Bail Bonds. The final chapter in his life, he started Garden Road Independent Baptist Church in Wallace, where he was the pastor till he became sick.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026 at Garden Road Independent Baptist Church at 2 p.m. with Pastor Ronnie Wayne Chavis officiating. Burial will follow at Northam Cemetery Extension with military honors. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Surviving are his wife, Melinda Rivers Rogers of the home; his children, Priscilla Ann Rogers, Jerry Mitchell Rogers Jr., Michael Grover Rogers, Elizabeth Baird and Virginia Rogers; stepchildren, Adam Parks, Sarah Webster and Rachel Watts; sister, Janice Chavis; sister-in-law, Mary Coble; grandchildren, Josephine Rogers, Eddie Avalos, Lexi Matos, Sierra Tanner, Josh, Nicholas Parks, Sophie Parks, Colton Parks and Josie Webster.
