Joyce “Diane” Norton Shoenberger, 78, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina passed away Friday, May 30, 2025 at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital, Murrell’s Inlet, South Carolina.
She was born Jan. 2, 1947, in Rockingham, a daughter of the late James Clifford and Clara Ruth Ford Norton.
Diane previously worked as a certified nursing assistant. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and cooking, even collecting recipes. Diane also loved to fish, travel, and take cruises. She had a love of animals and enjoyed birdwatching. Taking time to read was a love of Diane’s. She will be dearly missed by her family and all those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Glenn Norton and Jimmy Norton; and sister, Merilous Cline.
Diane is survived by her husband, Phillip Michael Shoenberger of the home; daughter, Tonia Cassaday of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; grandchildren, Sandi Leigh Cassaday, Devin Charles Cassaday, Elaina Claire Cassaday and Ciara Madison Cassaday; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Cameron and Autumn; and her brother, William “Billy” Norton of Woodbridge, Virginia.
Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 1 p.m. at Richmond County Memorial Park with Pastor Donnie Nuttall officiating.
