Juanita Steen Quick, known as “Nita” or “Nana”, went to be with Jesus on Friday, Dec. 27, 2024 at Richmond County Hospice Haven.
She was the wife of Thomas William Quick, known as “Little Boy.” They were married for 54 years and had two children, Jonathan Heath Quick and Terry Lynn Whittington.
Juanita was the baby of 11 children born to Willard and Nita Steen. Her older siblings were Harold, Bobby, Richard, Virginia, Alice, Harl, Carl, Martha, Jefferson and Gary. She was blessed with many beloved nieces and nephews.
As a grandmother, Juanita was cherished by Brianna Quick, Justin Quick, Joshua Bell, Trevor Whittington, Nathan Quick, Caleb Quick, Spencer Quick, Saige Quick and Christian Whittington.
Juanita worked for 10 years as the biscuit maker with Convenience Corner in Hamlet and later retired from Perdue Farms after 10 years as a custodian. She dedicated her life to Christ and served as the choir leader at Prevatte’s Chapel for many years. She was a sweet, loving Mama and Nana and shared a close relationship with her children and grandchildren.
Juanita also loved tending to her flowers, raking the yard, singing, and playing with her grandkids. Being a member at Abundant Life Church in Rockingham, Preacher Joe would say to her “Juanita, Juanita, Juanita” and she would call him “Barney, Barney, Barney!”
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jonathan Heath Quick; sister, Martha Estridge; and brothers, Richard, Harold, Harl, and Carl.
Left to cherish Juanita’s memories are her husband, Little Boy Quick of the home; daughter, Terry Lynn Whittington (Ron) of Rockingham; daughter-in-law, Jamie Quick of Hamlet; grandchildren, Brianna Quick (Kevin), Justin Quick, Joshua Bell, Trevor Whittington (Caroline), Nathan Quick (Brianna), Caleb Quick, Spencer Quick, Saige Quick, and Christian Whittington; brothers, Jefferson “Huly” Steen of Wallace, South Carolina, Bobby Steen and Gary Steen, both of Hamlet; and sisters, Alice Murchison of Hamlet, and Virginia Miller of Ocala, Florida.
