Julia Huggins Briggs, 88, of Rockingham, passed away at her home on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025.
She was born on Oct. 21, 1937, daughter of the late Sanford Huggins and Bertha Oakly Huggins.
Julia was a devoted member of Mount Calvary Rock of Ages Church. She will be remembered as a hardworking woman who truly enjoyed her work. Julia loved spending time at the beach and in the mountains, and she was an avid reader. In her youth, she was a cheerleader in high school and carried that same joyful spirit throughout her life. Above all, she will be remembered for her kindness and her love of helping others.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandsons, Danny Mac Briggs III and Caleb Briggs; brothers, James Huggins and John Luther Huggins; and sisters, Ruth Stubbs and Virginia Beck.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Tawnja Callahan of Hope Mills; son, Dan Briggs (Cindy) of Rockingham; brothers, Sanford Huggins Jr. of Rockingham and William Huggins of California; along with 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2025, from 1-2 p.m., at Mount Calvary Rock of Ages Church, County Home Road, Rockingham.
The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 2 p.m. with Pastor Donnie Nuttall officiating.
The burial will be held privately at Richmond County Memorial Park.
