Karin Resch Young, 82, of Hamlet, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026.
Born on Sept. 19th, 1943 in Bretzenheim, Mainz, Germany, she was the beloved child of Wilhelm and Katharina Resch.
Karin lived a life marked by kindness, dedication, and love for family, friends, and any child she encountered.
Karin attended school in Germany. As a young adult, she worked in fashion and accessories at a department store and volunteered at the hospital there. She went on to work as a teacher’s assistant at Fairview Heights Elementary School, where some of her most cherished memories occurred.
Throughout life, Karin enjoyed crocheting, crafting activities, dancing, working with children, and spending time with friends and family. Karin held a special place in her heart for all of her students and never forgot a face. She will be remembered for her kindness and love for others, quick wit, sense of humor, and German accent that everyone loved.
Karin is survived by her daughters, Sandra Jenkins, Melissa Young-Border (Martín) and Jody Karin Young; and a sister-in-law, Lila Barber “Aunt Cookie.” Karin is also survived by five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren: Brandon (Taylor) Armstrong, Ryan (Kat) Pope, Blair Armstrong, Krista Todd, Kara Riley Simmons, Cali Day, Fallon Marston, Mason Armstrong, Vada Armstrong, Laszlo Pope, Blakely Crothers and Walker Pope. She is also survived by her best friend, Gerda Pait.
Karin was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Clyde Young. She is also preceded in death by her son, Clyde Torsten Young; and her parents, Wilhem and Katharina.
Family and friends whose lives were touched by Karin will remember her for her unwavering kindness, selflessness, and unconditional love.
A funeral service will be held on July 2, 2026 at 2 p.m. at Watson-King in Hamlet. Visitation will be held from 12:30-2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Though Karin is no longer with us, her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
