OBITUARY: Leo Brayboy

Leo Brayboy, 74, of Hamlet, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Richmond County Hospice Haven.

He was born Sept. 19, 1949 in Scotland County, son of the late Hansel Brayboy and Lillie Mae Oxendine Brayboy.

Leo was a member of Abundant Life Church in Rockingham and loved his church and church family. He enjoyed shopping and going out to eat. Being one of six children, he was affectionately known as his “Mama’s Boy.” He will be missed by his family.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bentley Brayboy.

Leo is survived by his four sisters, Annie Brayboy Locklear of Rockingham, Annie Leviner (David) of Hamlet, Sarah Williams of Hamlet, and Barbara Smith of Chesterfield, South Carolina; his special niece, Janet Butler; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 1-2 p.m. at Abundant Life Church, Rockingham.

The funeral will begin, immediately following visitation, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Joe Wilkes officiating. Burial will follow at the Church of God of Prophecy Cemetery, Hamlet.
