OBITUARY: Linda Liles Bendell

Posted

It is with heavy hearts that we share the peaceful passing of Linda Liles Bendell, age 83, a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who went to be with the Lord on July 5, 2026.

Born on Aug. 29, 1942 in Hamlet, North Carolina, Linda built a life centered on family, faith, work, and service.

She retired from Richmond County Schools after many years of teaching high school business classes, with a particular love for business law. She was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church of Hamlet.

She believed education opened doors and devoted her career to helping young people prepare for life beyond the classroom. Her students remember how she made them feel seen, valued, and capable.

Linda expressed her love in practical ways. Her family will remember her teaching, her cooking, the countless wrapped Christmas presents she delighted in giving, and the joy she found in reading books to her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter: Brooke Bendell Stark (Burwell) of Youngsville and their children, Lindy (Sam), Aiden and Cierra; Brenna Bendell Husel (Jeff) of Clemmons and their son, Daniel (Tori), and granddaughter, Dahlia; and Britt Bendell of Hamlet, and his children, Jace and Bayden. She is also survived by her brother, Joseph C. Liles (Carla) of Hamlet, and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, John Calvin and Edith Liles; her brother, John Liles (Mildred); her sister, Sandra Liles Golden (Bob); and her granddaughter, Avery Christian Stark.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 11, at noon at Harington Funeral Home located at 214 McDonald Ave., Hamlet. Visitation will be prior at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to First Presbyterian Church of Hamlet in Linda’s memory.

Harrington Funeral Home & Crematory is serving the Bendell family.
