Lonnie T. Quick, 73, of Rockingham, passed away Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026 at Richmond Co. Hospice Haven.
He was born Nov. 6, 1952 in Anson County, a son of the late Lonnie N. and Lezzie Oliver Quick.
Lonnie retired from the U.S. Army as chief fire direction inspector. Lonnie also talked about his experience in the Army. He liked going to the VFW and talking to his friends. He supported many things that the VFW done, that put on the Kid parties, Friday night steak plates, Christmas parties.
He loved doing yard work and trimming the sidewalks at our house. He also loved washing his truck and just being outside. He loved to plan our annual beach trip; we loved sitting on the balcony and watching the waves. Thankfully he did plan our last beach vacation, even though he couldn’t do much, but he still wanted Angie to get away for a bit, he knew she loved the beach. Closer to his last few weeks, he sat around, and he wished that he was able to do more, and watch TV.
Lonnie was proud of all his family members and loved the accomplishments they all achieved. Lonnie loved his wife, Angie; his boys, Buddy and James; and all of his grandboys, Carson, Alex, Kyler and the newest member to Pop's boy club was Elliot.
A graveside service will be conducted Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026 at noon at Richmond Co. Memorial Park with the Rev. James Mims officiating, with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:45 a.m. prior to the graveside service at Watson-King Funeral Home in Hamlet; and at other times at the home, 538 County Home Road in Rockingham.
